About Gaslight
A welcoming stage for the Capital Area
Our mission
To offer a welcoming home for artistic expression, teach the craft of theater, and bring the community together through live performance, carrying on a long tradition of entertainment in Maine’s Capital Area.
Gaslight is an all volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit. A Board of Directors handles the day to day business, and the money comes from memberships, sponsorships, ticket sales, program ads, and special fundraisers.
What we do each year
- Four main stage productions, each running two weekends with Sunday matinees
- A spring evening of one act plays for new directors and actors
- Entries in the Maine Association of Community Theaters One Act Festival
- An annual award for graduating seniors at four area high schools
- Old Hallowell Days and Christmas in Old Hallowell
